Free Fridays in Freeman Park 
The following children's programs meet at the Eddy Station picnic shelter in Freem an Park, 6000 Eureka Road.
Karate Class -
Friday, June 18th @ 11 am-noon

A certified martial arts and Fitness instructor will teach kids about courtesy, respect,
confidence and discipline, and give tips on physical health, anti-bullying, and resisting peer pressure.
Bugs and Critters -
Friday, June 25th @ 10:30-Noon
Registration Requested: Ages 5-10
They buzz, they crawl, they fly, but not all bugs are bad! Can you tell the difference? Join us for a morning of catching, racing, and playing games about bugs. Then we’ll head into the woods to find out what kind of bug eating critters live in our backyards. Take home a bug catcher and some bug friendly plants.
DNR FiN Program - Friday, July 16th @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Registration Required: Ages 5-10
Fishing in the Neighborhood (FiN) is a DNR program aimed at increasing angling opportunities, public awareness and environmental stewardship. Kids will learn casting, fish identification, and do a craft project. Maximum class registration is

Kid Power with Rachael -

Rachael has been wowing audiences with her unique blend of interactive guitar music, comedy, cartoon impressions and juggling. Her high energy and fast paced shows also draw upon her captivating storytelling and theatrical techniques. Her various themes include: the power of kindness, the value of respect, our spiritual connection to the earth and it's animals, and the ability to make our dreams come true!! Bring the whole family!!

Kayaking is a great way to explore the lakes in Shorewood. Kids will learn kayaking instruction from Three Rivers Park District. We'll will spend time on lake Minnetonka and when we're done you'll know how to get into and out of your boat safely. You will also learn to make a kayak go in a straight line, spin in one spot, and everything in between. Our priorities are safety, fun, participation, and skills. Join us for a day of adventure and education. Kayaks provided; no experience necessary. Maximum number 10 -- minimum 6.
Safety Camp

Youth entering 3rd and 4th grade, Cost: $20
Wednesday, August 11th @ 9:00 am-3:00 pm
Join us for our annual Safety Camp at Badger Park – safety education in a camp setting. Safety topics of discussion will include fire, water, bike, pedestrian, drug awareness and more. Snacks and lunch will be provided. Participants will also receive a t-shirt. Camp is sponsored by South Lake Police, Excelsior Fire, and Shorewood Parks and Recreation Departments. Maximum number is 40.
Skateboarding Camp 
Ages 6-12, Cost: $85
June 21st – June 24th @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Sports Unlimited will host a skateboarding camp at South Shore Skate Park. The camp is designed for beginner to intermediate skaters. Experienced instructors will help each student to learn balance, stopping, turning, ollie, nollie, kickflip, heelflip, and much more along with skate park safety and skate park etiquette. Helmet is required.

Carlson Tennis has teamed up with the City of Shorewood to bring a free tennis experience to all the children of Shorewood. This event showcases the unparalleled health and social benefits of tennis in a fun and dynamic way.

Day Camps: Carlson Tennis will be running three week long tennis camps at Badger Park. The camps will be for ages 4-12 and class sizes will be limited to a 6:1 student tennis pro ratio. Garage Band Jam 2010

Gardens
Adopt-A-Garden
This is a volunteer program to help beautify our community. Groups or individuals who adopt one of the park entrances, or the signs at City Hall are responsible for planting, weeding and watering of adopted area. For more information contact City Hall at 952.960.7900.
Community Garden Plots
Do you like growing your own vegetables and herbs? The Community Garden program is designed to provided gardening opportunities for the physical and social benefit of the people and neighborhoods of Shorewood. Arctic Fever
Winter gets heated up with Arctic Fever, a community wide event offering non-stop activities to choose from for all ages. This event takes place the third Saturday in January.
SouthShore Center
Shorewood is home to the SouthShore Center. This beautiful facility is located next to Shorewood City Hall at 5735 Country Club Road. SouthShore Center offers a variety of daily activities, outings, classes, and special events. The Center is open weekdays from 8:30 to 4:00. Beyond housing various programs and general community events, it is a wonderful facility for private parties or meetings.
